📅 7-Day TV Guide
The Zgemma H8 provides an easy-to-use Electronic Programme Guide for both UK satellite and Irish Saorview channels.
Browse what’s on now and what’s coming up and schedule recordings directly from the programme guide.
⏺️ Recording, Pause & Rewind
Connect a compatible USB hard drive or USB storage device and turn your Zgemma into a PVR.
You can:
- Record TV programmes
- Schedule recordings from the EPG
- Pause live television
- Rewind live television
- Watch your saved recordings whenever you want
- Record an Irish Saorview channel while watching a UK satellite channel
- Record a UK satellite channel while watching Irish Saorview
Because the satellite side uses a single tuner, simultaneous recording/viewing of multiple UK satellite channels is dependent on the channels being broadcast on the same satellite transponder.
For regular recording, we recommend a 500GB or 1TB external hard drive.

The Linux-based Enigma2 operating system offers much more flexibility than a conventional Free-to-Air receiver.
Features include:
- Advanced EPG
- Channel bouquets
- Automatic service scanning
- Channel editing
- Plugin support
- Multiple menu languages and skins
- Web interface
- Web remote control
- Parental controls

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a subscription?
No. The receiver is designed for Free-to-Air UK satellite and Irish Saorview services. There are no monthly television subscription fees.
Does it come tuned?
Yes. Freesat.ie supplies the receiver pre-tuned with our latest UK Free-to-Air and Irish Saorview channel lists.
What storage should I use?
For occasional recording, compatible USB storage can be used.
For regular recording and Timeshift, we recommend a 500GB or 1TB external hard drive.
Can I record Irish TV while watching UK TV?
Yes. The receiver has separate satellite and terrestrial tuners, allowing you to record Saorview while watching a UK satellite channel, or vice versa.
Can I watch one UK channel while recording another UK channel?
In some cases, yes. As the receiver has one satellite tuner, the two UK satellite channels must be available through the same satellite transponder/tuner stream.
I can’t find my Irish channels.
Saorview channels are normally located in the first bouquet labelled FTA. If they’re missing, check the terrestrial aerial connection before performing a rescan.
Timeshift says there isn’t enough space.
Delete unwanted recordings or connect a larger storage device. A 500GB or 1TB hard drive is recommended if you regularly use recording and Timeshift.
